
Lizzo joined a band called rock-prog where she sang and played the flute. Her family relocated to Denver and she was on her own trying to make Houston her home. Lizzo was a single woman in her car, and sometimes lying on the floor in her recording studio in the studio and she washed at the gym. When Lizzo was 20years old, her father died. They had been close and it was a devastating loss. After the passing of her father, she resigned from the prog rock group. Following a brief stint in Denver in the year 2010, Lizzo moved to Minneapolis on the advice of a friend in 2011. Lizzo quickly found herself in the center of the Minneapolis music scene. She was part of the girls' group Chalice and GRRRL PRTY. Her debut album Lizzobangers was released in 2013 via an independent label.
